Item description
MSc (Nursing) Professional Practice with Work Placement
The MSc Professional Practice programme offers a sound educational experience for health and social care practitioners within both home and international markets. Its flexible structure with a choice of modules enables the student to make educational choices to create an individual programme that supports their own professional practice.
Students will be able to select from an exciting range of subjects designed to enhance and extend their current knowledge. These choices will be dependent on their area of interest, their experience and the areas of nursing they wish to specialize in. For those international students who are eligible they can undertake the Overseas Nursing module as one of the subject choices.
Teaching Methods
Students will study for approximately two – three days each week over three terms. They will benefit from a blended learning approach consisting of lectures, tutorials, web based support, directed individual study and supervision from experienced senior lecturers.
All modules involve major assessment at the end of the third term (May); there may be smaller interim assessments for some of the modules occurring between January and April. All assessments and the project will relate to their area of professional practice.
Employability
The Faculty of Health Sport and Science have many years experience in supporting International students. They would like to offer students an exciting opportunity to carry out a work placement as part of the course – at no extra cost.
A placement would not only provide with valuable work experience, but would also help students to fully integrate policies, procedures and evidence-based practice into their professional practice.
It will provide them with a wider understanding of the UK health care system and allow them to follow through on patient care episodes. This valuable knowledge can then be transferred to their practice in the future. The placement will be formatively assessed.
Finally, get registered with NMC
Overseas Nursing Programme – ONP, offered without any additional cost Students should make use of the above said 18 months duration of study and work placement to improve their English skills to the level set by the NMC.
